shameless promotion!

So, once upon a time I was doing the subscriptions work for the campus music magazine I'm involved in. And we needed off-campus subscribers. I know we're all poor college (or pre-college) students, but you would have my undying love forever if you bought a subscription. I'll even write you a badass poem. Oh, and if you don't want to buy a subscription, if you send the promo blurb to people you think might be interested, it would be greatly appreciated.

Volume is Yale’s only music magazine. Published three times a year and put together by a staff of knowledgeable and enthusiastic writers, Volume has reviews, interviews and in-depth features. By subscribing to Volume, you get updated on news and artists that other music magazines miss. Sometimes humorous and always informative, the magazine puts current music in our cultural context.

The feeling resulting from not subscribing to Volume is best expressed by Longfellow:
O lost days of delight, that are wasted in doubting and waiting!
O lost hours and days in which we might have been happy!

Don’t live with regret. Live with Volume.

Features in the first issue include:
The friendship of Charles Manson and The Beach Boys
Girl Talk and the concept of illegal art
The National Air Guitar Championships
Reviews ranging from Joanna Newsom to Jay-Z

A year-long subscription for three issues of Volume is only $15. We have two payment options: checks and Paypal.

Checks are payable to Volume Magazine, and should be mailed to:

So anyway, on to my life: reader's digest version. Life is good, but Thanksgiving break was too short. I might be going to Puerto Rico this summer to study monkeys. My Japanese teacher decided that I would sit through 5 hours of oral presentations and then give one of my own during reading week, for which I cry. And I ate a brownie for breakfast.

Top 5 Songs...get up and dance:
1. Soda Soap - Sierra Leone Refugee All Stars
2. El Conquistadors Stompdown - El Conquistadors
3. What is Love - Haddaway
4. Bucky Done Gun - M.I.A.
5. Timorous Me - Ted Leo and the Pharmacists

Happy Election Day

Well, it's that time of the year again, namely midterm election time. We had a little couch party on hall to watch returns, and believe you me, I have never seen Guinness and CNN go together in quite the same way. We even had a game of bingo based on likely-to-flip seats: http://donkeykong.mit.edu/bingo.php Note the free space. Anyway, i was just wondering how you guys were, and where the regular posters have gone. Any thoughts on the prospect of divided government minus Rumsfeld? I must say, the next two years at least have a bit of promise. Meh.
