Oh no, not the Hungarian Horntail!?

Yay for the fourth Harry Potter movie!

It's waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay better than the previous three, which I realise is not saying much. So basically, I'll say that it's a great movie. Some of this enthusiasm is probably blind Pottermania speaking, but then again, only some.

I actually laughed at the funny bits instead of cringing, the acting of the main three improved considerably, special effects were AWESOME... Which all means: happy me!

Although Dumbledore had this strange accent which was a mix of British and something "American" (sorry, I don't know how to be more specific than that). This twang kept resurfacing in his voice. It was rather distracting.

But whatever, I'm just being whiny.

So go see it! Now!

Wait, so you, Jason, in Austria, have already seen movie no. 4? I knew it was out in the US this week, but no Dutch theater is showing it until the 23rd, so I figured that was the standard release date in Europe. Not fair!

Yup, Austria got unusually lucky on the release date. Normally we're one of the last places in the developed world to get movies, but not this time! It actually came out on the 17th.

Hey Dylan, don't sigh... watch the movie!

I just got back from seeing it. I organized this gigantic dorm thing where I got permission for people to check out of the dorm to see Harry Potter and sold tickets. It was pretty sweet. Also, basically the theatre crowd consisted of the entire school.

I thought that this Harry Potter, while extremely delightful, felt crunched. Everything non-essential was completely cut and it felt choppy a times, especially the beginning. They cut out all the Quidditch! It was like, look, it's Quidditch, and now we're done, on to the plot.

Finally, a list of important information:
Krum: LARGE. Like a Greek wrestling Olympian, I'm serious.
Diggory: HOT. HOT. HOT.
Weasleys: Weird hot. Why the long hair?
Harry: Aaaaaw, you're so cute, but why is your hair so long?
Malfoy: Why can't you be hot?
Cho Chang: WHOA. You're cute, I guess, but not pretty. Sad.
Moaning Myrtle: SKETCH.
Fleur: Oh, ok.
I took careful mental notes on all of these things and then we all had a really loud conversation on the way back to the dorm.

I agree... the whole scene with Myrtle had this awkwardly funny but also disturbingly paedophilic feel to it.

Cho was disappointing, although her Scottish (I think?) accent was cute.

Fleur came off much better in the movie than she did in the promotional photos.

Diggory? Really? Because the main reaction amongst my friends was: "meh"

To be honest, the movies have never managed to make quidditch look good, so I wasn't really disappointed about the director's decision. And yes, the movie does seem to be split into strict, self-contained sections. Which were all amazingly enjoyable (although I thought the dragon was rather underwhelming compared to the other two tasks). So I didn't really care.

Anybody else watched it?

Serious about Diggory. I have an entire dorm of squealing girls who'll attest to it. I'm not surprised that your friends thought he was only OK, though. I can see where they're coming from.

I actually went to see the movie, and for some reason Harry's long hair reminded me of a mid-1980s Jackie Chan. Why? I have no idea
