So, did anybody have a Whoa!-I-definitely-saw-that-image-somewhere-before moment? Because I certainly did upon arriving home and finding a version of it lying on the table. Thanks Henrik for the postcard! Have you flown back to Vermont already?

Thanks for all the "Happy Birthdays" (Meredith that is one awesome cake, and Henrik... legal porn photographer? Major crazy randomness, and it's all great).

Birthweeks. The idea? Me likes.

Being 17 is, well, exactly like being 16 except that as a number, 17's way cooler (sounds strange, but I have this thing with numbers, and 17 is definitely one of the best).

As for college apps (egads!), the deadlines are inching closer. Who am I kidding, they're actually GALLOPING TOWARDS ME!!! But that's being melodramatic. On a more serious note, Adam, where's the 2006 app. for Michigan Branch Telluride House? The one on the website seems to be the past year's. Speaking of websites, any idea when we'll get our UMich sites back online?

Till later,

Jason

I emailed the Michigan Telluride House folk. They said wait on the app. It will go up in November or some crazy time like that - I think they have to finish their current application cycle for transfers before they'll post it?

You know, 17 is a much cooler number than 16, although that's counter-intuitive, since 16 is so easily divisible and 17 is prime, which I usually hate. I guess powers of 2 are just weak in general (512 is OK, but take 32 - such a flabby number), and 17 is just about the best prime there is. It's even better than 7.

Haha, there's a whole lot of weird thinking that goes into my evaluation of numbers. Comes from the Chinese part of me. That culture is excessively superstitious. For example, the number 4 is to be avoided at all costs because it signifies death (because the words "four" and "die" sound similar in chinese), while 6 is synonymous with happiness, and 8... well my old math teacher apparently managed to sell his rickety old car while living in Sinagpore because it had a number plate with lots of 8's. You see, 8 signifies wealth. The buyer probably took the plate and scrapped the car.

So 16 would be a pretty terrible number (four squared? egads!), and I think that primes are nice just because they aren't made up of piddly smaller factors except for 1. AND, 17 is infinitely cool because the sum of the digits is 8 while the difference is 6. So yay!

OK, I really should stop typing.
