Bonnaroo

Remember Bonnaroo everyone? well, check out their line up this year. www.bonnaroo.com. It's keepin up the 'interdisciplinary music' tradition, with Radiohead of all bands as the head-liner. Do you any of you understand what this means? Bonnaroo has gone even more commercial! Clearchannel, the radio/live music dynasty of America, has bought out Bonnaroo. But, I really like Radiohead and I'm still going. What do you guys think of the line-up? Personally, I'm not as impressed as last year. However, this is only the first round of artists. There are more to come.

Sam, I know you like the Meters and the DDBB: check out the Neville Brothers. Also New Orleans. Art Neville was the keyboardist for the Meters, and he is a brotha for this band.

What? Not that impressed? Pshah! Yeah, I agree, Radiohead, Beck, Elvis Costello, Damian Marley, Bela Fleck, Matisyahu, Robert Randolph, Les Claypool, Oysterhead, The Neville Brothers, Atmosphere, Soulive, and MEDESKI MARTIN & WOOD aren't that impressive.

Henrik- Have you heard Welcome to Jamrock? Damian Marley killed it with that cd. C'mon, you know Radiohead is impeccable. And Medeski Matin & Wood.... for gosh sakes!!!!

Heavy on the indie rock/emo tip this year...Death Cab and Bright Eyes are pretty major major. Toubab Krewe is representing. Sounds like quite a line up. Bah humbug indeed. I wouldn't mind checkin some of those shows. Have a smashin good time homey.

Matisyahu is a badass, though. Hasidic Jew rapper, what? G. Love and the Special Sauce? Andrew Bird, Seu Jorge.

Maybe it's not as impressive as last year, but I'd go just to hear those guys.

Have fun!

Oh, don't get me wrong, I'm the one who's defending the show from all my narrow minded jam friends. Just compared to last year...wooh baby last year had Herbie Hancock, Allman Bros, Gov't Mule, Widespread Panic, Keller Williams, J5, De La Soul, Dave Mathews, John Prine, Allison Krauss, Bela Fleck, Xavier Rudd, O.A.R., Jack Johnson...
I could go on forever.

Okay, can you explain Bonnaroo Radio? Is that the clearchannel tie in?

Also, I looked at how it works, and aside from understanding that you go without showering for three days, I don't get the living conditions. Do you sleep in your car?

Ahh! Matisyahu is sweet! I am so jealous Henrik, that's a sweet lineup, regardless of any comercialization. Hey, Sufjan Stevens is pretty cool, too. My newspaper advisor and world lit teacher graduated from the same school as him, and she's quite proud of the fact. She's also sitting right across from me in the computer lab as we are once again laying out the newspaper until midnight. I better get going, see you guys!

Bonnaroo radio is just a radio channel for people to listen to the music tied in with the event. They have a station for people to listen to at the actual festival as well, but it was there last year. It's not a Clearchanel tie in.

In terms of sleeping, you can sleep in your car or bring a tent. A lot of people bring RVs, so they can shower that way. And in terms of food, you can either buy the expensive food there or bring your own. It's pretty nifty.
