Something for us to consider. Any thoughts?

Inter-TASP Proposal

I'm definitley all for it, we can still maintain our local-TASP blog, can we not?

While our beloved turquoise and blue blog can maintain it's steady course, we can use the inter-TASP Blog [TASPuride? TASPOS (Denumerized (is this even a word, look how many parentheses I'm using!) version of TASP '05)? TASP United? InterTASPonal?] to create a new branch or course into another world.

While this blog will maintain its purpose of keeping us in touch with each other's lives on a more personal level, the other will enable us chew on juicy, intellectual and humorous issues with a wider group on a less personal level.

While we maintain our local, UMICH Tasponism (n. pride, honor and devotion in one's own TASP), we can commingle with other TASPS and make steps to severing any hostilities that may have existed or preventing any from happening.

However, I feel I may be overlooking some other cons with this inter-TASP blog, feedback?

I'm definitely in favor of networking with other TASPs, and I don't see why our blog has to suffer or change at all if we do open an inter-TASP message board. Let's open the message board and still keep the blog running as it is right now.

So basically, I agree with Henrik 100%.

I big fat YEA to networking. I think the best method would be a message board, rather than a blog. I don't think TASPers who don't know each will be interested in each others' personal stories, so I think that the intra-TASP blogs should remain. For discussion and networking, a pan-TASP05 message board would be just the ticket.

So long as our UMich TASPonism isn't compromised... I'm all for it.

And I assume that someone from the St. Louis TASP will create a sutiable forum within the next few weeks.

I wonder whether we'll be able to interest any of the UT Austin TASPers... their online presence is practically non-existent, as far as I can tell.

What's the difference between a blog and a message board?

And Henrik, you always make me smile.

And creating a wiki would just be retarded.
coz that's not a forum at all.

isn't it?

A blog is somewhere that has posts and their respective comments arranged in a static order on the page. This is fine for posting about events in our lives, not so good however, for conducting any sort of long-term (as in, more than a week) discussion, since posts are inexorably pushed down the page by new posts. Besides, it gets difficult to keep track of which posts have received new comments since you last checked the blog (am I not correct?).

A message board, however, allows the posts to be arranged in order of the last comment made. Hence, the most active topics will automatically be at the top of the page, much to the convenience of all.

A wiki is a group-updated site. Think wikipedia. I gather that the wiki to be set up by one of the St. Louis TASPers will be used to compile a TASPer Master List of Colleges, for the purpose of finding any other '05 TASPers attending your college. And for the sake of general curiosity.

I like the idea as long as we don't call it "networking" and do this with the intent of aiding our professional lives twenty-years down the road. Because that's just whack.

And omigosh i love music so much! Just thought you all might like to know that.

SOCIAL networking. As in organizing reunions and other get-togethers.

I do understand where you're coming from, Emma. The word "networking" conjures up images of MBAs in suits who say things like "facilitate inter-departamental networking in order to commence strategic initiatives."

you need to throw an "implement", a "utilize" or a "dialogue" in there too.

and I like the idea
